Tau HUD

Community nodes

Every node that checks the chain makes it harder to fake.

These nodes run the Tau HUD kit and verify every block of the Tau testnet themselves. We compare each one, block for block, with our own node. The longer and steadier a node runs, the higher it ranks.

Badge for your node

Run a node

Put your name on this board in three steps.

  1. Rent a small server 2 min · about €6 a month

2 CPU, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB disk, Ubuntu or Debian, x86 or ARM. Any cloud provider works.

  2. Paste one command runs by itself · about 1.5 h

As root on the server. It installs Docker, builds the node and starts it.

1 to 24 letters, digits, dots, dashes or underscores. Shown publicly.

  3. Your row appears a minute after it syncs

Your node reports once a minute. Its log prints your badge: docker compose logs heartbeat. Full guide

What you get

  • Your name on this board, ranked by how long and how steadily your node runs.
  • A live badge for your README or website.
  • A chain you checked yourself, block for block.
  • A head start for a validator seat. Seats are decided on chain.
  • No tokens or payment: this is a testnet.

Before you start

Is it safe for my server?

It opens only SSH and the peer port 4001. The node’s own interfaces stay inside Docker; nothing on the server is shared.

Does it need looking after?

No. It restarts by itself and resyncs when the testnet restarts. To update, run the same command again.

What does tauhud.com learn?

The name, height, latest block hash and kit version, once a minute. No address, no keys. Leave the name empty and nothing is sent.

How do I stop?

cd /opt/tau-node-kit/kit && docker compose down
